It will thrive in all kinds of soil, even growing in clay soils and once established it is amazingly drought resistant too. It is especially resistant to the mildew that disfigures so many older kinds of Crape Myrtle. The Berry Dazzle Crape Myrtle will grow in zones 6 to 9, so gardeners in all the warmer parts of the country can grow this fantastic shrub, which is pest and disease resistant and even deer resistant. Even the leaves are deep red in color, so from the moment they leaf-out in the spring this plant will bring color to your garden before it even begins to flower. The sunniest part of your garden is just right for it and those brilliant rich-red flowers will stand right out and bring your garden to life at just the right time of year.
